MNB Plant Start-up in Shandong Province
May 30, 2012
Ongoing innovation and a range of new features characterize the latest NORAM mononitrobenzene (MNB) plant to come on line. The Shandong Jinling MNB facility, located in Dongying, Shandong Province, China, was commissioned and brought into production earlier this month. The plant is capable of producing 280,000 MTPY of MNB, and its production will be used to feed an aniline unit producing for the merchant market.
The plant marks NORAM’s second implementation of DNB (di-nitrobenzene) removal technology, and is the first of its kind in China. Key process improvements make the plant amenable to a range of feedstock purities, and provide enhanced energy integration with the downstream aniline plant.
Shandong Province has become an epicenter for NORAM technologies in China, with the previous announcement of 3 MNB plants for Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes. NORAM is also providing its proprietary VertreatTM biological wastewater technology for a plant in Qingdao.
