APEGBC President’s Award
October 9, 2013
NORAM is proud to announce that Dr Alfred Guenkel, P.Eng. is the recipient of the Association for Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. 2013 Meritorious Achievement Award. Dr Guenkel is partner and Principal Chemical Engineer at NORAM.
Citing a career in which Dr Guenkel has advanced a range of innovative chemical technologies, APEGBC has highlighted his contribution, in particular, to NORAM’s patented processes for the production of mono-nitrobenzene (MNB), from which more than 50% of the world’s polyurethane is now derived. Most recently Dr Guenkel was also the process lead for the two large sulphuric acid plants designed for the Ambatovy Nickel Project in Madagascar, which for the first time brought together NORAM’s process and equipment innovations in world-scale state-of-the-art plants.
The President’s Awards, which honour excellence in professional, technical and community service by APEGBC members, will be awarded at the APEGBC Annual Conference and AGM in Whistler, B.C. (October 24-26, 2013).
