The Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various types of industrial instrumentation. This includes pressure, temperature, level, and flow sensors, as well as control valves and analyzers, mainly related to electrochemical processes.

Responsibilities:

• Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards, during commissioning and start-up activities, both in-house and at customers’ sites.
• Assist in updating and maintaining documentation, including instrument indexes, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, wiring and instrument installation schematics and data books.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to understand and implement system requirements.
• Provide technical support to other disciplines, both internal and client’s project teams.
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation issues, both in-house and at customers’ sites.

Qualifications:

• Red seal Instrumentation and Control Technician, or Industrial Instrument Mechanic.
• Proven experience in a similar role in an industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of process control and instrumentation principles.
• Proficiency in using various types of calibration equipment and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
• PLC and HMI programming, as well as AutoCAD and Microsoft Access competence will be considered assets.

Working Conditions:

This position requires traveling internationally and working in various conditions, including outdoors in all weather conditions, at heights, and in potentially hazardous environments.

Physical Requirements:

The Instrumentation Technologist must be physically capable of carrying out all assigned duties, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

NORAM is seeking self-motivated and skilled mechanical engineering candidates to creatively contribute to our multi-disciplinary project teams that design innovative proprietary plant layouts and equipment including reactor vessels, heat exchangers and mixing tanks for the chemical industry globally.   Project team roles from junior engineer to senior engineer are currently available.  Mentorship will depend upon candidate’s relevant experience.  Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills and must be (or eligible to be) registered with EGBC as a PEng or an EIT.

An important aspect of the mechanical engineering positions at NORAM is the ability and desire to travel to client’s sites both domestically and internationally as the project phases evolve.  Vendor visits, client meetings, conferences and product commissioning are all components of a mechanical engineer’s role at NORAM.

The successful candidate(s) could expect to be involved in:

• Reactor, vessel, heat exchanger design and innovation.
• Selection and specification of rotating equipment.
• Piping and ducting design inclusive of pipe routing.
• Overall chemical plant layout.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
• Inspection of fabricated equipment at fabricators located globally.
• Supporting local and international clients during installation, construction and field evaluation of equipment and systems.

NORAM Engineering has an opening for a Chemical Process Engineer to work in the Vancouver office. The preferred candidate should be experienced in a project environment through all project phases from concept designs, feasibility studies to project implementation and execution in the chemical industry.

The candidate will be comfortable in an engineering project team environment including various engineering disciplines and will be familiar with performing heat and mass balance calculations, generating complex P&ID’s, using process simulation software and creating specifications for a wide range of chemical process equipment. The ability to work independently and provide creative solutions to new process designs would be definite assets. The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be comfortable with direct client interaction and be registered or able to apply for registration with EGBC.

NORAM is seeking a mechanical design/drafting technologist to join our project teams. The position will be responsible for design/drafting support across all of our business areas.  The selected candidate(s) will work in a fast-paced, project team environment focused on the design and supply of new chemical plants, de-bottlenecking of existing plants, and a variety of research and development projects. Mentorship and supervision will be provided by experienced engineers and technologists.

Qualifications include the following:

• Competency with both SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Previous experience with industrial plant layouts, equipment and piping would be an asset
