New MNB plant in South Korea
May 18, 2009
NORAM announces the successful start-up of a new 150,000 metric tonnes per year mononitrobenzene (MNB) plant for the Hu-Chems Fine Chemical Corporation complex located in Yeosu, South Korea.
NORAM supplied a full technology package based on its proprietary process, including design, proprietary equipment, and commissioning services. The design, key equipment selection and plant construction incorporated the elements for future expansion to 300,000 metric tonnes per year.
Commissioning and start-up was completed in early March, 2009 under the guidance of a number of NORAM’s professional engineering staff. Proprietary equipment supplied by NORAM was sourced world-wide with an emphasis on local Korean fabricators wherever feasible. Construction assistance was also provided by NORAM for key equipment installation and piping. The MNB plant met all Hu-Chems performance guarantees during production testing in early May 2009.
