Wanhua Chemical’s MNB Plant Starts Up

The year 2014 was a busy time for NORAM’s mononitrobenzene (MNB) business. On the last day of December, NORAM brought its latest MNB plant into production for Wanhua Chemical in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China.

The Ningbo plant, with a nameplate capacity of over 250,000 metric tonnes per year, is a near replicate of an earlier plant supplied and commissioned by NORAM at the same site in 2013.

Wanhua Chemical is China’s number one producer of MDI, an isocyanate manufactured from MNB and used in polyurethane production. Wanhua Chemical now has over 1 million metric tonnes per year of installed MNB capacity utilizing NORAM technology.
